De CORKY X is ontworpen om je achterom te laten kijken zonder je hoofd te draaien tijdens het fietsen. Hij heeft een esthetiek die technologieliefhebbers vertrouwd zal voorkomen. Geïnspireerd door de vormfactor van Google Glass, biedt de CORKY X een nieuw soort head-up display (HUD). Met een klein spiegeltje laat deze bril je direct achterom kijken door simpelweg uit je ooghoek te kijken.
De CORKY X heeft een universeel aanpasbaar ontwerp dat veilig, comfortabel en in slechts enkele seconden op elke bril te bevestigen is. Het product maakt gebruik van een sterk reflecterende PC-acrylspiegel, vergelijkbaar met commerciële spiegels, maar met een aanzienlijk lager gewicht. De spiegel bevindt zich in de hoek van je perifere gezichtsveld (zodat je zicht op de weg niet wordt geblokkeerd) en is gemonteerd in een verstelbare behuizing waarmee je de spiegel in elke gewenste richting kunt kantelen, waardoor dode hoeken worden geëlimineerd en je perfect zicht hebt op wat er achter je gebeurt.
Hoewel het idee achter de CORKY X op het eerste gezicht eenvoudig lijkt, vereiste het productontwerpproces zorgvuldige overweging en bleek het complexer dan aanvankelijk gedacht. Het gewicht, de vormfactor, de aerodynamica en de functionaliteit van het product spelen allemaal een cruciale rol bij het garanderen van een feilloze werking, zonder storingen of het risico op ongelukken. In dit opzicht bereikt het ontwerp van de CORKY X specifiek drie belangrijke doelen:
A. Een aerodynamische vormfactor die ervoor zorgt dat de bril door de lucht snijdt zonder te vervormen of af te wijken tijdens het rijden.

CORKY X comes with a universally retrofittable design that attaches to any piece of eyewear securely, comfortably, and in mere seconds. The product uses a highly reflective acrylic PC mirror that’s comparable to commercial mirrors but at a fraction of the weight. The mirror sits at the very corner of your visual periphery (so it doesn’t block your view of the road ahead) and is mounted within an adjustable housing that allows you to tilt the mirror in any direction, eliminating blind spots so you have the perfect view of what’s behind you. While the idea behind the CORKY X seems outwardly simple, the product’s design process required a fair deal of consideration and was more complex than you’d think. The product’s weight, form factor, aerodynamics, and functionality play a critical role in ensuring it works flawlessly without failing or causing an accident. To that degree, CORKY X’s design specifically achieves three crucial things – A.
